Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II - Celebrations in Somercotes 1977

The Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II marked the 25th anniversary of her accession to the throne. It was celebrated with large garden parties, parades and carnivals throughout the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
The 7th June 1977 was designated as the day for these celebrations, and Somercotes played its part with a parade of floats through the village and a carnival on the recreation ground. Below are photographs taken of the event.
