Butterley Engineering was founded in 1790, the company being based in Ripley Derbyshire. and was founded by Benjamin Outram & Company. The famous landmark stands no more as it closed in 2009 and was later demolished. Benjamin Outram died in 1805 and the name changed to 'The Butterley Company' whne one of the Jessops sons William took over the running of the factory. The factory produced cranes, fabrications and structures.
