“Lest We Forget” Book Launch

Members of the Somercotes Local History Society agreed during 2012 to research and print a book detailing the soldiers who died during the First World War and who are named on the Somercotes War Memorial. The late Gordon Blackmore was instrumental in obtaining Heritage Lottery funding specifically for this project on behalf of the Somercotes Parish Council, in whose name the book would be printed and published.

With the help of members from the Derbyshire Ancestral Research Group the book was finally completed and printed, and launched at the SLHS Heritage day on 10 September 2016.

Copies of the book are available for sale at the Village Hall at a price of £3.95 each.

A DVD is also available titled “So Off They Went To War” published by the SLHS and priced at £4.95.
