Millinery is the art of hat making. Almost everyone in the past would have worn a hat at some time, to the flat caps often worn by colliery workers to the fancy ladies hats worn in church.
Although the milliner as died out in Somercotes, it was a small flourishing trade in the past, as can be seen from the lists below.
