A Roll of Honour was published in the Derbyshire Courier on 3 April 1915, listing the men who were serving in the armed forces at the time. The list contains omissions and errors, but lists 144 names with, where known, their address and regiment. The list is in the order it was published in the newspaper, which is not entirely alphabetical.
Where errors have been made and corrected by the SLHS, these have entered in parentheses []. All of the regiments were abbreviated to fit within the newspaper column, and these been changed to the full title.
Please note that this listing would have been a snapshot as of the date when the list was compiled. Many of the soldiers would not only have changed battalions, but may well have been transferred to different regiments during the following months and years of their service. Several of the names are listed on the Somercotes War Memorial.
The list is as follows:
ROLL OF HONOUR – SOMERCOTES, LEABROOKS AND SLEETMOOR.
